PAY RATE: $25.35 - $30.11 PER HOUR

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Streets Manager and direct supervision of a Streets Field Supervisor, the Streets & Storm Water Operators perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the City streets, signage, sidewalks, curb & gutter, street lighting, parking structures, storm water system and the operation of medium and heavy construction and other specialized equipment, while providing seamless cooperative service to our residents and visitors.

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES

• Operates various types of heavy, light, and complex equipment used in the maintenance and construction of city property, facilities, streets, etc. Operates backhoes, front end loaders, dump trucks, trenchers, snow removal/ hauling, de-icing, sweepers, asphalt recycling equipment).
• Performs Street lighting installation and maintenance for our lighting network. Assists with the installation, repair, and maintenance of street lighting systems.
• Helps ensure compliance in executing The City’s MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) permit with the State of Utah. Participates in compliance of the City’s Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) program.
• Heavily involved in the removal of snow during the winter months including plowing and hauling of snow from City streets, sidewalks, trails, and parking lots.
• Ensures assignments such as snow removal, flood control, street repairs, signage, and maintenance are completed in a timely and professional manner.
• Provides logistical support for Special Events including, deployment and programming electronic variable message boards, traffic control and way finding.
• Operates computers to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, work order database, email internet and other computer programs.
• Monitors and evaluates the work of contract service providers. Oversees contract labor and construction projects. Provides input in the development of contracts.
• Performs skilled construction functions related to repair and maintenance of all street assets.
• Performs preventative maintenance and light repairs on equipment such as adjustments, replacing / repairing plows, sanders, and lubricating equipment to keep it safe and in proper operating condition.
• Trains and instructs less experienced personnel in the safe operation of medium and heavy equipment.
• Sets up and picks up barricades, lane cones, and warning signs to channel traffic around work crews.
• Uses concrete cutting and breaking equipment. Operates a jackhammer, pours, and finishes concrete, in the replacement of city streets curb & gutter and sidewalks and prepares temporary sidewalks.
• Asphalt paving/patching on streets. Paints traffic markings. Inspects cleans and maintains storm drain systems.
• Installs signposts, street signs, checks for maintenance, and replaces broken signs as needed.
• Assists in storm control activities such as placing sandbags, barricades and picking up litter or debris. Responds to emergency calls as necessary.
• Maintains reporting and records required in street maintenance division.
• Other duties as assigned or directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• DOT physical card
• Class B Utah Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements
• Utah Flagger Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Experience as a Street Maintenance Worker II or equivalent.

Preferred:

• Working knowledge of Park City Municipal geographic area.
• 2 years working with heavy construction-type equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and run.
• The employee is occasionally required to operate objects, controls, or tools.
• Ability to climb and pull own weight in and out of equipment.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
• The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places, and with flammables and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Work is performed primarily in vehicles, and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions including extreme temperature extremes.
• Periodic exposure to stressful situations.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
• Occasional on-call working hours including evenings and weekends.
